Angel Pockets

I’ve been thinking for a long time about charity knitting, but seriously, the options are endless.
The family of my Creative Memories Unit Leader lost a baby recently, and it got me thinking about knitting burial gowns or something for families with little angels.
I found Angel Pockets among the tons of burial gown patterns. I always feel the need to pick up baby yarn when I find it.
This is why:

Dear Suzy, recently I lost my baby boy who was still born at full term. we had a fantastic experience with the care we recieved afterwards and have collected some money to provide packages for other angel babies which include fluffy blanket, teddy bear, footprint cast set, camera, bracelet for mummy and baby, outfit.
the bereavement room looks after babies who die after 16 weeks, and i cannot find outfits small enough. would you consider donating any angel pockets for us to give to the hospital?
thanks you very much mel

The Angel Pockets seem like a wonderful idea for a group I’m just starting for the purpose of teaching skills and to knit and crochet items for charities. One I’ve long worked with is crocheting hats which I donate to a local hospital for cancer patients and hospice patients. Since I lost my first child at birth nearly 50 years ago, this project touches my heart. I would like to know if you have crochet instructions for these pockets. My knitting skills are minimal and I’d like to have instructions for one I could crochet which I’m much faster at.
Thank you for your help,
Marilyn

I finally worked out some crochet instructions for an Angel’s Pockets (many bad patterns in the process) and am also making little afghans and some of the buntings that I found on the web. Our biggest local hospital which has the most deliveries has been hurting for these outfits so am delighted to have found patterns we can use.
I like to add a small charm to each item that says “Made for an angel” on it and we add a tag telling where the item came from. I do the same with the cancer hats I make and have learned over the years that recipients seem to really appreciate this little added touch.

This is a terrific posting, I located your blog site looking around bing for a related subject and came to this. I couldnt come across to much additional information on this write-up, so it was awesome to discover this one. I will probably end up being returning to look at some other articles that you have another time.
