I promise I won’t post a picture of an egg sandwich every time I have a giveaway. It’s just that I’ve been meaning to share a picture of my latest thrift store find and I happened to be making an egg sandwich when I remembered.

Shhhh, don’t tell my mom: I started buying Corelle plates at the Goodwill. I only found one like this, and the other seven I bought the other day are pretty, too. This one is my favorite, though. My mother-in-law has at least one like this. I would LOVE an entire set!

Does Corelle make butter dishes? My favorite butter dish broke and I’ve been hard-pressed to just get a plain old white one from the store.

So here is your mission, should you choose to accept it:

Post a blog entry about either one (or both!) of the following questions:

1. What is your favorite thrift store find?
2. Do you have a set or piece of a set of dishes that you absolutely love?

Include pictures if you can. I love pictures of cute plates and mugs.

Leave a comment with a link to your blog post and I’ll draw a winner at the end of the month for this knitted bookmark!

Oooh, if I’d only known you 10 years ago. We used to have a whole set of these dishes in green and gold. I’m not sure where they went but I suspect they ended up at Goodwill. We even had the serving dishes!

SADFACE. I can’t post about these things because they are non-books. HEY WAIT! I forgot about Snippets! I will post there. I don’t know about photos, though, because all my dishes are packed right now.

Our butter dish is plain white! We got it at Target, but it was a few years ago.

    Hi,
My Mom had these dishes, but when she moved in with me, we let the auctioneer take them. I do still have the butter dish of the butterfly set. I dropped a Correlle bowl on the floor and it was stopped by the stove and it is in perfect shape.

We had that exact set while I was grouwing up! It was great because Mom never had any broken dishes. She bought the set from Caldor (a chain store at the time that was like Target) for $19.99. I love thrift stores too. Yet in NYC someone always gets the good stuff. When I travel to upstate NY or to Connecticut, I always go to the thrift stores there to get the goodies.

I love dishes! This is my current favorite piece that I own:

I’m not entering the contest, but my mom has that same set of dishes. I love them. :D

We used to have those dishes! I loved them, too. Maybe I’ll start combing the thrift stores for some, too…

My current favorite dishes are the few sets we got as wedding gifts of Mikasa’a Italian Countryside: http://www.mikasaandcompany.com/images/catalog/products/large/DD900021.jpg

They are plain, but elegant, pretty without being too girly for my husband.

As for my favorite thrift store find: I have to brag about this one! I was shopping randomly, just looking around not really looking for anything in particular and I found SIX Indian dresses (Kameez), one set had the pants (Salwar), and two sets came with the scarf (Duputta)!! They were in perfect condition and still had the fold creases in the, as if they had never been worn. Being a bellydancer, I could not have been more thrilled! :)

    BB!
