never a dull moment

It’s summer time around here (duh) and it’s hard to make time for blogging.  I realize I’m way behind on reviews and whatnot.  Also, you’d probably like to hear more about my choir adventures with Joe Jennings.  Thing is, usually if I sit down to type something substantial, Timothy toddles over to me, often falling down once or twice on the way, and starts yelling at me.  Then he pulls his hair and does that fake crying thing that babies of around 14 months are so good at doing.  Bless him.

Anyhoo, Lucy is also starting to go stir crazy and I keep finding her sleeping in odd places instead of in her usual bed.  Remember how I fixed up a laundry basket for her filled with handknit kitty blankies?  She’s abandoned it for safer places.  Places where she won’t get hit by the random ball or Bakugan or Pokemon action figure that might be flying across the room even though I’ve told those kids A THOUSAND TIMES NOT TO THROW THINGS IN THE HOUSE.  I’ve found Lucy sleeping under the dresser in my bedroom, which isn’t very unusual.

This, however, is the strangest place I’ve ever found Lucy.  And as you can see by the pictures, she’s quite happy there.  Don’t ask me how she got into the basket on the middle shelf.  I didn’t see her do it but I wish I had!  Remember that Lucy has cerebellar hypoplasia, so her climbing isn’t so great.  For her to climb onto our bed is a feat and it takes every ounce of effort for her to jump the baby gate.

Oh, Lucy.  She’s eleven years old and still keeps us guessing.

Whenever Lucy is sleeping in her basket (which is about 90% of her day), she gets those valleys in her fur.  I always want to stick my fingers in there to scratch at her gigantic belly.  I hate to disturb her from her beauty sleep, but how can you resist this softness?

Lucy in the morning

Even though she spends about 95% of her day sleeping, she is very particular about her sleeping places.  Lucy has her own “laundry basket” full of warm snuggles to sleep in and that’s where you can find her at night and the majority of the day.  Sometimes she sleeps behind the Christmas tree, on the rocking chair, or curled up on top of the kitty cave (how that’s comfortable, I don’t know).  In the mornings, though, she likes to sleep on the couch next to me while I drink my coffee & do computer-type things.  It’s the closest thing to cuddling as we can get with Lucy since she can’t tolerate being held–it makes her dizzy.

I broke my blog

Posted by: Lizzie

Sorry for the down time today you guys.  I accidentally deleted my header yesterday, then the server went down when we were just about to get the header fixed.  Dreamhost didn’t get the problem resolved until this afternoon!  So, I’m extending the Operation Backpack giveaway until the end of the day tomorrow.  :)

What did I do all day while waiting for my blog to not be broken anymore?

Well…

I vacuumed the living room, two hallways, and the boys’ bedroom!  Then Lucy got confused because the carpet no longer smelled like her cat hairs.  She rolled all over it to make up for it.

The boys got into plenty of mischief as they always do.  It was mostly Simon causing all the trouble.  He is famous for making grand messes and today was no different.  It has been a while since he’s made a disgusting mess.  Well.  Since yesterday anyway.  I’d much rather deal with pickle milk than poop any day, though.
