date night

We’re finally going on a date tonight! Jamie got a gift certificate to our favorite Japanese steakhouse, so we’re leaving the kids with his mom & going on a date. I’m so excited! Yay!

Now. We have been eating Asian food around here like it’s going out of style. What gives? I had some take out at my sister’s on Tuesday. Since Jamie and I celebrated our Day We Met anniversary on Wednesday, he picked up some sushi. Then for lunch yesterday, I was craving sweet & sour chicken (again!), so Jamie went into Grovetown to get some. Now tonight we’re going for some delicious sushi & whatever delectables that may strike my fancy. Eating at this place always reminds me of the time that I busted my ass trying to get into the drop-down seat. Good times. Good times.

On to the sad news: the fish didn’t make it. It was looking better when I had it out of the tank in a hospice bowl, but I was too late with salt treatments. :(

The other fish started sitting at the bottom yesterday, so I did another 50% water change and salted the aquarium. Within an hour, it was swimming around happily and is finally eating again. I need to salt the aquarium again today for good measure. I wonder what was making the fish sick? Oh well. As long as the last one is nice and happy, I won’t worry my pretty little head about it.

Here’s my latest knitting project! I used this pattern from my favorite knitting ezine, Knitty. What I should have done, though, is read the pattern thoroughly before taking on this project. It starts off easy enough, but once I got to the part where I had to construct the shell, I started getting frustrated. I finished it, though, and that’s all that matters.

I asked Jamie if he wanted me to make something for him, and he mentioned a frog. Unfortunately, “frog” is also a knitting term used to describe the taking apart of knitting (rip it, rip it), so doing a simple online search has proved to be nearly impossible. There is only one frog toy pattern on the web that I know of, but I don’t particularly like the look of it.

I have one question about babies. How is it that they know exactly what they aren’t supposed to have? Now that Simon is officially mobile, he’s determined to explore everything but his own toys. Does he have an inner radar that tells him where the “no-no” things hide? I really don’t get it.

Have a good weekend, internet. Don’t do anything I would do.
