Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Diamond Edition
Posted by: LizzieWhen our copy of the new Disney Blu-Ray edition of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” arrived, Simon gasped and then proceeded to jump around as if he’d won the mega million jackpot. Now that we’ve watched it (twice), every time he sees a commercial related to the movie, he’s all, “HEY WE HAVE DATT!!!”
There’s really nothing like watching your kids as they experience a movie you’ve grown up watching. There are things you’ve forgotten about, like the part in the movie where Dopey runs around the house for a few more kisses from Snow White. And Aiden laughed his face off the first time Sneezy blasted out his first major sneeze. Simon was so worried for Snow White when she was running through the forest after the Huntsman told her to run away. It was so funny: when Snow White “died,” the boys all said, “The End!” Of course, that’s not the end, and they were glad that Snow White did, indeed, live happily ever after. (Surprisingly, there were no resounding “eeeews” when Prince Charming kissed the sleeping Snow White.)

Some technical stuff about Blu-Ray:
Blu-ray Disc (also known as Blu-ray or BD) is an optical disc storage medium designed to supersede the standard DVD format. Its main uses are for storing high-definition video, PlayStation 3 games, and other data, with up to 25 GB per single layered, and 50 GB per dual layered disc. The disc has the same physical dimensions as standard DVDs and CDs.
Highlights about Blu-ray discs and players:
- Up to 6x better quality than DVD
- 7.1 Surround Sound
- Immersive activity with games and special features
- Kid proof-more scratch resistant
- Plays both Blu-ray and DVD discs
- Blu-ray also plays on Sony Playstation 3 players
Did you see that? Kid proof!!! We have had to replace several DVDs over the years because they’ve gotten scratched up.
We don’t have a Blu-Ray player (oh, how I wish we did), so we watched the DVD that’s included in the Diamond Edition Combo Pack. Even still, it looks GOOD. I have never seen an older Disney movie look this crisp! Compared to the VHS copy of Snow White that we still have, this edition is so much better. Plus, it comes with all these features:
Picture & Sound
- First time ever in high definition 7.1 sound
- Disneyview – expanded viewing experience
- All-new Music Video
Disney Family Play
- What Do You See? – Decipher the scambled image
- Mirror, Mirror on the Wall – Which princess are you most like?
- Jewel Jumble – test your matching skills
Backstage Disney
- Snow White Returns – Newly discovered storyboards. Was Walt planning a sequel?
- Hyperion Studios – Explore Walt’s original studio
- The One That Started It All – See how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs forever changed the world of movies
Classic Bonus Features
- Dopey’s Wild Mine Ride Game
- “Heigh-Ho” Karaoke Sing-along
- Disney through the decades
- And More!
I hope that if you don’t have a copy of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, that you go out and get this edition. It’s great for family movie night, or even for curling up with your kids to watch on on a rainy day.
