Happy Anniversary!
Posted by: LizzieWowee, everybody! Can you believe that Jamie and I have been married for nine years? Yesterday after church, he kidnapped and drove me four hours to a resort in Hilton Head–a HUGE surprise for me. I seriously had no idea what was going on so I sat and knitted until we pulled into a beautiful resort where we had a room with an ocean view and dinner for two in a five-star restaurant!
Jamie planned the whole thing without me knowing, and even packed everything he thought I would need, with several options for wardrobe. I am seriously impressed. And you should be too!
I’ll spare you the intimate details of our romantic getaway and fill you in on all the knitting I accomplished along the way.
First up are Simon’s Peace Fleece shorties. I got the green in a trade and trimmed it with some leftover warm browns. After knitting for other babies, it was shocking to measure Simon and discover how skinny he is! I was almost done with them before we left and managed to finish them off in no time.
I also did some Top Secret Knitting for a special little girl who is about to be born into a Super-Duper family. Not that I haven’t knitted enough stuff for her already. I just thought I’d add one more item of choice since I bought a ton of yarn at the Joann’s sale. Thus, no details will be revealed until after they are finished and mailed.
Now what’s this on the right? CROCHET, you say? Why yes, I have been known to dabble a little here and there. A couple weeks ago, I stumbled upon this pattern for an afghan and I thought it would be the perfect thing for using up all those scraps I have leftover in my stash. And it’s especially wonderful for those nights when I get bored with other projects but still need to do something with my hands.
After I finished off what yarn I brought for the Top Secret Project, finished the shorties, used up what yarn I brought for the afghan and discovered that I didn’t bring the pattern for my socks, there was nothing left to do but enjoy the last few child-free hours of the weekend.

yay, that’s awesome! I’m jealous…. our 10th anniv. is Friday, and with the securely attached baby and no family around, the best we can do is the kids have a sleepover and we go to Excalibur. Should be interesting. Not necessarily romantic. Hope to have a getaway weekend when Clementine is older to really celebrate. Would LOVE to indulge in the amazing hotels here. ahhh…… Anyway, congratulations on making it so far and still loving each other–that’s huge!!
Sweet family! Miss ya! Emily
