I finally finished the mei tai yesterday. Remember before, when I thought I ran out of thread? Well, I had enough on the bobbin to put some on the spool. I used every last inch of the thread, but I finished it, by gosh. It’s not perfect, by any means, but Jamie says it looks good, and it’s not like I’m planning to start making & selling the durn things. Today’s mission is to make a pumpkin panel for the mei tai and a little pumpkin hat for Simon.
The past few nights, Simon has changed his routine. He’s now staying up past 10:00! He was going to bed around 8:00 last week, which was nice because Jamie and I had some time together to, well, sit and watch tv. It gave him a chance to work on his Latin and allowed me to have my hands free to work on a cross-stitch project.
Though the change in routine is, in the least, inconvenient, it’s hard on Simon because he’s teething. I’m going to go ahead and blame the teething and the small case of the sniffles he caught from Aiden. Thankfully, both of those things don’t have Simon crying or screaming. At the most, he whines, “Mmmm, mmm, mmm,” just a little louder than normal. Nursing, I know, is uncomfortable, and I blame that on the little blister on his gums. Last night’s nursing strike was due to his stuffy nose, though. Every time he woke up, I had to aspirate his nose, which he hated. But, even when his nose was clear, he really wasn’t interested in me.
I’m going back and forth with myself about what to do with Simon’s small Fuzzi Bunz. We have five of them, and they’re getting too small for him. The practical part of me wants to hold onto them “just in case” we do decide to have one more baby. The other practical part of me wants to sell them so I can buy some premium prefolds and more wool, or maybe a couple medium Fuzzi Bunz for Jamie to use. This is an ongoing debate in my mind that I fear will never be resolved.
Tonight, we away to the church for the Fall Festival. The boys get to dress up in their costumes: Corey as a cowboy and Aiden as Thomas the Tank Engine. Corey’s costume comes with a pair of cap guns that his Mimi bought for him. They give it a nice finishing touch, but after a visit with some cousins on Sunday, I’m afraid to let him wear them for fear he’ll point them at the church folks and scream, “Freeze, sucka!” Jamie assures me that this is how boys play, but I desperately want to undo the damage that his cousin caused.
Alright, the Simon is fussing. Time to wrap this up.
Peace in the Middle East.
