Family update

I took a break from my usual blogging to hash out some personal issues. Jamie’s father died last week and we’ve been dealing with that as best we can. It’s been hard on all of us because we were all so close and he was such an awesome person (at least 200 people came to the visitation).

So, the house is a freaking disaster since we haven’t been home enough to clean it up and because I just haven’t felt like doing anything except dishes and laundry. The dishes haven’t been too bad anyway because we’ve been eating at Jamie’s mom’s since last Saturday. There are enough pound cakes over there for each of us to have our own. So much for losing some baby weight any time soon.

I had my first NFB party last night and I think it went rather well. I got to place an order for myself (finally) and there are even some outside orders to help my sister some cool hostess rewards.

Simon grew some teeth last weekend, so I’ve been getting all super-nervous whenever we nurse. He’s only bitten me twice, but still. It makes me so nervous my letdown takes a little longer than usual. Jamie’s cousin, when we told her about his teeth, joked that it was time to “take away his ninnies,” (I’m assuming that was her word for boobs). I just don’t even have anything to say about that. You know.

Jamie’s mom insisted we take some of the plants that filled up her living room. We don’t have anymore spare windows, so I took ones that live well in the shade. I had to do some searching to figure out what a couple of them were (one is an asparagus fern and one is a Coleus Rose Kong). Then two peace lilies and an African violet (another! yes, I know!). There is still one unidentified plant, but I’ll look into it later. Now I need to get some more potting soil and a couple hanging baskets since the asparagus fern has thorns and poisonous berries.

Jamie has the whole weekend off of work, but I don’t know how we’re going to spend it. He already had the weekend off before, and I can’t even remember if we were going to actually do something. I suppose we’ll spend some time with his mom and just do some cleaning up around the house. We’re still dealing with a bug problem that may require the work of an exterminator. They came from the house I lived in when we were seperated, and they haven’t left. We’ve tried EVERYTHING. So. Time to call someone.
