I’m a-ramblin
Posted by: LizzieWe’ve been crossing off a lot on our To-Do list lately. Mostly it’s a bunch of phone calls and co-ordinating of schedules. I’m getting a freecycled piano this week, but it has to be moved by Turner Keyboards–it weighs a ton. And I’m not exaggerating. So I’ve been organizing that on my end. Jamie’s job today is to put bricks under the house where we’re going to put the piano. We don’t want the floor to cave in!
Once we get the piano fixed, I’ll be able to really start teaching out of the home. Of course, I’ll need to do something with Simon’s “room” to make it more presentable. For the moment, it’s serving as the changing room as Simon is still not sleeping in his crib. Whenever we build a “real” house, a music studio will definitely be in the floor plan.
I planned on calling Aiden’s old SLP, but a recent check on the Wellcare of GA site told me she’s no longer accepting Medicaid. GREAT! So now we have to see how Aiden can get ST through the school without him having to enroll. I’m concerned mostly about some speech distortion when he has to make ending [ks] sounds (e.g. socks, box, rocks). His [r] sounds are a little wonky, but I think that’s a developmental thing that should correct itself. His next checkup is at the end of May, so I’ll ask his ped about speech evaluation then.
So the van. We have an appointment on Monday at the dealership. Mondays are the days when Jamie doesn’t have class, so he’ll be able to hang out with me in the morning and maybe take me to my mom’s house if it’s going to take all day. I need to make sure someone will be on the road in case I’m not home when Corey gets off the bus.
Sorry for all the rambling. This is the only way I can organize my thoughts!
Here’s some more rambling for you:
Eventually, I want to get my Master’s and PhD, but only want to get them from IU. We plan on living in Georgia forever since the land is in our name and you can’t beat homestead exemption. So when Jamie is done with his Master’s degree in a few years, we’ll sell the mobile home and go live in Indiana while I get my degrees. While we’re in Indiana, we’ll get a house built where our mobile home is now, then move back when I’m done with my degrees.
It sounds good written down, but I guess we’ll see what happens, right? I’m going to have to start looking up and applying for fellowships so we won’t have to worry about rent & tuition. More work for me!
Alright.
I’m done rambling for the day.
