Behavior & Recycled Woolies

Posted by: Lizzie

Monday, I came down with The Stomach Bug! It started with a wicked stomach ache all Sunday night with little sleep. I felt better by Monday afternoon and was actually able to eat dinner. Unfortunately, this virus has been running rampant in the playgroup as well, so we will not be having an Adventure to the Zoo tomorrow. Sad face.

Ok, so Corey has been trying so hard to be on his best behavior at school so he could earn a dinner at Pizza Hut. He finally did and we took him last night. The good part was that on Tuesdays, kids eat free at the buffet. The bad part was that we got to Pizza Hut almost before closing time and all the pizza was disgusting. The kids didn’t mind, but we had to wait almost twenty minutes for a fresh pizza. The breadsticks were all hard and the dipping sauce tasted like they forgot to add sugar. It was the most revolting dinner I’ve had in quite a while. Please pray that my son does not choose Pizza Hut again as his next Good Behavior Reward.

Hey, look what I made! I finally decided that Simon needed a pair of longies for the winter, so I made this super-cute pair out of one of my Goodwill finds. They have tiny moth holes down toward the bottom of the leg, but none where it counts, so those are really the only flaws. Now all I need to do is lanolize them and they’ll be ready to go. That reminds me: I need to lanolize the medium-sized mod wool wrap I made. It’s almost exactly like the one I made before Simon was born, but I made it a little bigger since he outgrew the first one in about a week.

I working on an outline for a website that my sister is kindly helping me with. I’m devoting most of the content to my business, but I’ll also be including a baby registry & other nifty things that I’ll have to come up with. I want to get it up and running soon because I already have one mama who wants to set up a registry with me and I’d like to make that available for her before her baby pops out. So, if you see me just sitting around, say to me, “Hey, Lizzie! Shouldn’t you be working on your website?” Chances are I’ll reply, “Why yes, yes I should! But can’t you see that there is an infant attached to my breast? I’m kind of in the middle of something.” And then I’ll make you fetch me my giant cup of water and the remote. Now, If I had a laptop, I could multitask for sure. Since we have a wireless router, I could take a laptop into the bedroom a.k.a. Simon’s Dining Room, and set up camp in there. He’s not too fond of nursing while I’m at the computer anymore since the screen is terribly distracting. Anyway, I have no idea where I’m going with this…this is why I don’t blog at night.

Another thing I need to work on (taking mental notes here…) is a special edition newsletter about holiday shipping & stuff. I started it this afternoon, before The Great Key Incident.

I’ll tell you about that now:

I decided that, in order to arrive at the church on time, I would need to pick up Corey at the end of the road when his bus driver makes the first stop. Normally, she drops him off last and at the end of our driveway since she lives down the street from us. Other kids on our road ride the bus, but they’re older, so she lets them off at the end of the road as one of her first stops. Anyway, I planned on picking him up at the end of the road to give us a head start since I needed to get gas and cash on the way to church. So I got the diaper bag ready in a rush (I had been stripping diapers all day), and once I had everything we needed, I couldn’t find the key to the van.

After tearing the house apart, calling my mom and asking her, if she was a three-year-old, where would she have put the key, trying to make alternative arrangements, etc., I finally found the key in some empty flower pots in the kitchen. At that point, I was dialing my choir director’s number, about to tell her that I may not make it to church on time because my three-year-old hid the van key from me and we couldn’t find it. What made this Incident even more exciting was that while I was first looking for the key, I picked up Aiden’s glasses to clean them since I was trying to get him up from his nap, dressed, and out the door. While cleaning the glasses and whining to Jamie on the phone about not being able to find the van key, the lens popped out and the screw went flying. The tiny blue screw fell onto the BLUE CARPET. Thankfully, it was found in a matter of minutes so I could resume my wild excavation for the van key.

I’d go on about the rest of the evening, but it doesn’t involve much more than me wearing Simon for half the rehearsal and crying on the way home because I was so tired.

Good night, Y’ALL.
