Oh where, oh where did my baby go?

I  briefly thought that if I did not write about Timothy being eleven months old, that maybe it wouldn’t be true.  It is true that next month will mark one year since he came rushing into our lives at 3:30 in the morning after three weeks of doing everything we could to get out of having a hospital birth.

But I’ll save the reminiscing for that post.

For now, I have to say that after going through a first year with three other babies, I still don’t know what I’m doing.  I still get scared whenever there’s a fever (or ingested battery), or if there is a sudden outburst of unexplained, inconsolable crying.  I still marvel at every little milestone.

Lately, Timothy is reaching above his head for the shelves of Tiny Things We Took Away.  Books are being pulled from bookshelves, baskets of toys are being emptied in a few minutes’ time, and yet I’m still wiping up tiny puddles of spit up.  I already miss those snuggly newborn days when I knew exactly where Timothy was at every moment.  I didn’t blink and suddenly realize that he was no longer in the room with me.

To be honest, I’m not looking forward to cleaning up after a toddler again.  As long as Timothy stays just as sweet as pie and pudgy as the Sta-Puff Marshmallow Man, I’ll be okay with it…for a little while.
