Read-a-thon: Hour 12 Mini-Challenge
Posted by: Lizzie1. What are you reading right now?
I’m still reading The Mermaid’s Chair.
2. How many books have you read so far?
Only the one book that I read to Corey.
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Really, I’m looking forward to finishing the one book. I hope I get to read some of my latest Goodwill find, Emotionally Weird.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?
Kind of. I gave my 7 1/2 year old fair warning that we were supposed to spend the entire day reading. My husband knew and understood, but no real “special” arrangements were made for my own personal reading. Except, of course, the one hour he took the boys off my hands.
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
My boys are constant interruptions. Dealing with them was really not much different from any other day. The only major interruption was my crop, but that was planned. They didn’t stay too late. Then we got right back to it.
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
Time goes by so quickly! I know everyone says that. But also. I spend way too much time reading the blog updates.
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Nope!
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?
I would try to plan some more personal reading time.
9. Are you getting tired yet?
Yeah. It’s well after midnight here and I have church in the morning. I’m going to read on the way there & back (we have a 30-40 minute drive), though. Thank goodness for living on the East Coast!
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?
Don’t create lofty expectations! I was lucky to get the time that I did, and I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t read as much as I wanted. Realistically, I think I did as well as I could with three young boys running around our house.

I think even trying with three young boys is very impressive!
