Hold on mama–I’m gonna wail.

RANT ALERT.  (this may apply to you.  and I’m not happy.)

With the exception of a couple members of my family and friends, I feel cheated and ignored whenever I get one of those digital photo invitations that people make on a dimestore website like CVS or whatever.  I take it personally.

Why?

Because I am a Creative Memories consultant.  Every time someone decides to make cards, invitations, or just get pictures printed at effing WAL-MART, I lose business.  All of those places are MY COMPETITION.  Those places don’t provide the quality of service and product that Creative Memories does.   And why would someone knowingly use a service that competes with a close friend or family member’s?

Free market, yes.  Do I have to beg?  I know not everyone is the scrapbooking type, but I know for a fact that there are several people in my extended family who send out digital photo cards.  For the love of all that is holy, could they please use Creative Memories?  Yes, they have to sign up for the digital center website, but that takes what? a minute?

Or if they need something that isn’t offered on the website, could they shoot me an email so I could do it for them?  I have the software and all the resources available to me as a consultant!  I’m trying to make a living here.

Sheesh.

So here is my personal Creative Memories website link: http://www.mycmsite.com/sites/egrant

Here is the link to the digital center where people can MAKE CARDS: http://digital.creativememories.com

BOOKMARK IT.

Thank you!  :D

To-Do Tuesday: Mrs. Slackypants McSlacksterson

Posted by: Lizzie

I thought I had a relatively simple list made up last week, and I did manage to get some stuff done.  Thing is, stuff happens.  I’m now going to examine last Tuesday’s list and give you a play-by-play:

√  Clean out my email inbox

I successfully unsubscribed to a number of newsletters that I never, ever read.  A lot of them I had been signed up for for more than ten years, so like a typical hoarder, I had some emotional attachment to these virtual papers.  It feels good to have a less cluttered inbox, though.  That’s fo’ sho’.

X  Dust the house before Saturday’s crop

There’s no excuse for this other than I just didn’t feel like it.

√  Put together a Creative Memories order

That’s self-explanatory.  Along with some paper and an album for a big project, I ordered the new rotary trimmer which I am very, VERY excited about.

√  Do yoga!! Or go jogging!! Or do something by way of exercise!!

I didn’t do yoga, but I did manage to drag myself out of the house twice with Timothy in the Didymos and Simon underfoot for a walk down the road and back.  Then it rained during the last half of the week, so I went to the gym on Thursday to run on a treadmill for about thirty minutes.

½  Incorporate beans into at least one meal a day

I’m giving this one a half because I didn’t take into consideration the Wednesday night supper at church (LASAGNA HELLO!) or the fact that I might forget.  Ha!  So we had beans a few days out of the week.

Are you ready to see this week’s list?  Here we go:

  • DUST!
  • Go to the post office
  • Take the pile of clothes by the front door and the pile of stuff in the back of the van to Goodwill
  • Go for more walks with Simon & Timothy (weather permitting)
  • Try the recipe for roasted chickpeas I saw in one of my cookbooks
  • Clean up the convertible car seat and graduate Timothy out of the infant car seat!!

To-Do Tuesday: Motivation, plz!

Posted by: Lizzie

This is my first “To-Do Tuesday” post, and I’m praying that I actually follow through. Cause you know what they say about intention. I’m the worst at meaning to do things, wanting to do things, and then not getting around to actually doing. It’s downright embarrassing!  Without further ado, here is my list for the week:

•  Clean out my email inbox (always on the list!)

•  Dust the house before Saturday’s crop

•  Put together a Creative Memories order

•  Do yoga!! Or go jogging!! Or do something by way of exercise!!

•  Incorporate beans into at least one meal a day

So about that last one: we have beans literally falling out of our cabinets that we get with WIC every month and we have done poorly to actually use them!  I managed to fix up some black beans last night with our dinner, and I threw a can in the crock pot this morning with some chicken, salsa, and rice.  I’d like to learn how to make croquettes and maybe hummus if I can remember to buy tahini.

If you have any deliciously simple bean recipes, please link me to them!   I’m drowning here…

Alas, My Deactivation

Posted by: Lizzie

shocking

I’m taking an unscheduled “break” from Creative Memories.  This isn’t the first time I’ve deactivated, but because of some uncontrollable financial difficulties, I was unable to meet my quarterly minimum out of my own pocket.  I thought for sure I’d be able to pull through without extra spending, but it just didn’t happen.  I have inventory sitting in my craft room unsold because I have not scheduled parties in months.  I feel like such a failure!

This does not mean I am giving up.  I’m going to try my best to get back on my feet, but it will take some time.  I have to save up for my reactivation fee and the retail order that needs to be placed in the same month.  While I wait for a sign that I’m ready to reboot my business, I will continue scrapbooking.  I still have small items and a few of the newer products from the Wishes and Dreams line.  If you’re looking for anything specific, just ask and I’ll let you know if I have it.  If you’d like something from my personal inventory, I do take paypal and will ship from my house to yours.

It’s hard feeling like a failure.  I’ve never been a great sales person, so I only have myself to blame.

I half-jokingly created a donation button, though, if you’d like to contribute to my reactivation fund.  Haha!
