Small Talk Six: So Long Summer!

It’s been a long, hard summer and I wish that I had enjoyed it more than I did. With a new baby in the house, schedules were very erratic and it was difficult to find peaceful moments. Here are the things I’m going to miss:
- Swimming — We didn’t get to do a whole lot of it this summer because one of us had to stay inside with Timothy while the other swam with the older boys. It was nice, though, being able to enjoy the sunshine and the cannonballs.
- Bullfrogs — You read that right. The sounds of summer include all of the frogs that mate in our pond. You should hear the deafening chorus around here! The bullfrogs are the best, though. They always make me remember that for about two years, I had convinced a friend of mine that the bullfrog calls were really cows doing it in the pastures across the road. That’s how loud they are.
- Strawberries — Oh, how I’m going to miss having strawberries in season.
- Peaches — See above.
- Timothy’s newborn days — Not that they are going to come back again next year, but still, Timothy’s going to be mobile soon and will no longer be a snuggly little newborn. I’m going to miss it. A lot.
- Sprinklers and Slip ‘n Slides — One of Aiden’s birthday presents this year was a slip ‘n slide that the boys just went nuts over. There’s nothing like watching your children bust their booties on the ground, getting covered in mud and grass.
