I wanted to review Letters to Darcy for a number of reasons.  The first reason was that the book originated as a blog from a mother to her unborn child.  Read more…

where the wild things are imax

Have you seen it yet?  Me neither!  Oh, how I would LOVE to see Where the Wild Things Are in IMAX.  I’m pretty sure Jamie is a bigger fan of Maurice Sendak than I am (who doesn’t love In the Night Kitchen?), and I’ve been a fan of Dave Eggars for years.  So, put the two together and this movie is a match made in heaven.  I hope.  :)

So how about a giveaway? Read more…

OnceinaBlueMoon

Sisters Lindsay and Kerrie Ann have known hardship from an early age. Without guidance from their neglectful mother, their only aid came from an unlikely source, a retired exotic dancer by the name of Miss Honi Love. When the girls’ mother was sent to prison, Miss Honi tried unsuccessfully to save them from being separated and sent into foster care.

Thirty years later, Lindsay is still trying to reconnect with her sister. The owner of a bookstore in the sleepy California seaside town of Blue Moon Bay, she was lucky enough to have been adopted by a loving couple. Unbeknownst to her, Kerrie Ann has suffered a very different life. Bounced from one foster home to the next, she ran away as a teenager before becoming a drug-addicted single mother. Now, newly sober, Kerrie Ann is fighting to regain custody of the little girl who was taken from her.

Neither sister’s expectations are met when they’re finally reunited. But as the two sisters engage in the fiercest battles of their lives, they are at last drawn together despite their differences, restoring belief in the unshakable bond of family. Read more…

But what if I told you I had some secret rituals that help me keep things livable around here?  Jamie got me a gopher grabber when I was pregnant because it was hard to pick things off of the floor.  Even today, when my arms are full of Timothy, I’ll get that thing out, stick a box in the middle of the floor and go nuts picking things up and tossing them in the box.

Mom Select - Bringing Companies and Moms Together

Oh my word, it’s almost Fall.  Or what we like to refer to around here as that random week in the year when the leaves change, fall to the ground, and then all the plants are dead for the season!  Now that the boys are back in school, I’m sure they’ll be bringing home all kinds of nasty germs.  Aiden reminds me daily that germs like to hide in the toilet and on our teeth.  I don’t suppose they’ve covered the “in your nose” locations in his classroom, but they will soon; once all the Kindergartners are running around with their noses dripping and sneezing on every touchable surface within their radii.
