Dyeing the eggs

Our egg dye kit was tie-dye!

Bee pulp!

It only looks gross. Simon really wanted to see the horse feed.

Eggs in the Azaleas

I’m proud of my egg-hiding skills.

Ready...set...

Do you think the boys are listening? I was trying to explain the Egg Hunt rules.

Finding the eggs!

Aiden needed a little help.

The best hidden egg

I promise we did not dye this egg to match the flower pot. Nonetheless, Aiden had a really hard time seeing this one.

Simon is Six Months Old!

Posted by: Lizzie

I can’t believe that Simon is six months old today! I’m going to get all mom here, but it seriously does not feel like half a year has gone by. I look at his newborn photos and I’m all like, “Awww, he was so little!” A lady at church just had her baby a couple weeks ago and he is so tiny compared to Simon.

Here’s what’s up with Simon these days:

Though he’s shown no real interest in rolling as a form of transportation, he does know how to do it. Except, of course, if he has a nighttime diaper on and then he wakes up if he’s having trouble getting from side to side. What he has been focusing on is baby push-ups and baby yoga. If he’s playing on his tummy, he likes to “swim” and push himself into “up dog.”

Simon has four teeth. I don’t really remember when the other boys’ teeth came in. I wasn’t a big teeth-coming-in-record-keeper, but I don’t think that either of them had teeth before six months. This is all very strange to me. The only thing it’s really affected is my ability to slip my nipple out of his mouth once he’s fallen asleep at the boob.

I don’t know how much he weighs, but I’m very proud of his growth and my not giving in to all the suggestions to give him solids. Even my older sister was surprised that I haven’t given him cereal yet. She takes her boys to a different pediatrician (who happens to be in the same practice that we changed from). This particular pediatric group is of the camp that suggests cereal and juice starting at four months. Anyway, he’s getting so big and squishy and cute. The only reason he whines when we’re eating dinner is when we forget to give him a spoon and an empty cup to play with.

The holidays are making me nervous and busy. I still haven’t figured out what to get Jamie for Christmas. What do you get for a guy who seems contented with everything and asks for nothing? I asked him if he would be offended if I got him pants for Christmas and he said no. So what? Do I get him pants?

Halloween is straining my relationship with Aiden. Every five minutes, he says, “I want purple bowl, mommy!” The purple bowl lives on top of the refridgerator and contains all the candy they received. It’s all my kids can think about, though Corey has more self-control and can take no for an answer a little easier than Aiden can. If I had a nickel for every time said, “Wait until after lunch/dinner,” I’d be a little richer. The only good that comes from having the Purple Bowl in sight is that it is incentive for finishing dinners and lunches. Of course, Aiden now wants to eat lunch at 9:00 in the morning just so he can have some candy. My plans aren’t fool-proof.

I have a lot of catching up to do in the business world since I spent almost all day yesterday on the couch. Sunday afternoon, I started getting a stomach ache that didn’t go away until last night. Monday, a migraine hit which didn’t really help matters since it was a vomitous migraine and I ended up making Jamie take me to the doctor. The doctor was sympathetic, but could really do nothing for me since I’m nursing. That was a waste of twenty dollars, but if I ever get sick, I have a prescription for phenigrin tablets that I can fill.

My plans for the rest of the week involve working on website content and cleaning the house.

Hey guess what?

My birthday is SOON!
