Eyebuydirect.com Review & Giveaway

I always seem to lose or break my glasses while I’m pregnant. It’s a strange twist on Murphy’s Law, since you can’t get your eyes checked while you’re pregnant. So you spend the rest of your pregnancy squinting at road signs and hoping you don’t get a reading headache. At least that’s what I did. Thankfully, I’m not legally blind or anything so I could wait to get my eyes rechecked (it had already been more than two years since the last time).  Once Timothy was born and I got the eye exam done, I was so excited that I could try out eyebuydirect.com. TMI Thursday? Tucks

TMI Thursday

Alright y’all. I’m about to get real personal here. But it’s my blog, so I can write about what I want, right?

Pregnancy does a number on a woman’s body. I’ve experienced just about every “side effect” that a pregnant woman can experience. From stretch marks to PUPPPS, and heartburn to gestational diabetes, I feel like I won the pregnant woman’s lottery. Add a glorious case of hemorrhoids and that just about did me in. Read more…

Nursing Tank-A-Thon: Comfy Kangaroo

I realize that this parade of nursing tank reviews was supposed to last all week, but I only have one left!  This is because I am human, scattered, and I accidentally posted two reviews on Monday.

The last nursing tank I reviewed is the Comfy Kangaroo.  I was anxious to try this one because it has some pretty nifty features: Read more…

Nursing Tank-A-Thon: The Ugly

Posted by: Lizzie

Two of the biggest names is nursingwear carry the worst nursing tanks available.  Glamourmom and Motherhood have been around for a long time.  There’s no doubt they carry some cute stuff, but I’m just not a fan.

I spent way too much on a nursing tank at my local Babies R Us right after Timothy was born.  I just really needed a white tank to wear to church, so I didn’t think about all of my criteria.  This particular tank was made by Glamourmom under the Motherhood logo.  I can’t find a picture of it online, but it looks like most other nursing camis on the market.

But here’s the first thing I hate:

That little clasp is supposed to be for “easy one-handed access.”  I’m not saying it’s impossible to undo the clasp one-handed, but it’s a pain in the ass.  The slider clasp is similar to one you might find on a front-closure bra.  There’s a definite learning curve to this kind of clasp, but I hate fiddling with it when I’m holding a fussy baby.

The other feature that annoys me is the slit opening.  I usually have to wear nursing pads, so it’s aggravating to figure out whether or not to leave the slits open and put the nursing pad on the outer fabric, or try to put it in the slit and then worry about the pad getting all bunched up.  It’s for modesty, yes, but I’d much rather grab a blanket than be fumbling around to get the pad back in place.

The fabric that makes up the tank is a lot thinner than I like, too.  That’s fine for an undershirt, which is what a lot of the Glamourmom tanks are designed for.  Personally, I like to wear my tanks by themselves because it’s so hot here, so I like a thicker material.

Glamourmom does carry tanks with the hook clasp I like on the Gilligan & O’Malley tanks, so they aren’t all bad.  It’s just a preference of mine that I didn’t realize when I bought the tank to begin with.  And for what I paid, it definitely wasn’t worth it.
