What’s been going on out here in the sticks?
Corey’s officially on summer vacation, a.k.a. Decompression Time. We’re going to take these next few months as an opportunity to relearn one another’s routines and do some test runs as a homeschool family. He’s glad to be done with school and is very excited to be reading the third Harry Potter book.
Aiden is finally taking an interest in learning letters and numbers, so I try to encourage that as much as possible. He’s not as keen on teaching himself things as Corey was at his age. It’ll come, though. It’ll come.
Simon is WALKING. I still get freaked out whenever he just pushes himself up in the living room and toddles over to me. He only started yesterday and now there’s pretty much no stopping him. Also, Simon eats so much food. Like real food and I now have to keep up with three hungry boys all day. He doesn’t talk much yet, but a few words are pretty clear and typical for a baby, namely “ball” and “mama.” Occasionally, he’ll pick up a remote, hold it to his ear and say something that sounds similar to “Hello?” IT IS SO ADORABLE!!!
Jamie started his summer classes (biology) and is grateful not to have to write papers. Of course, that doesn’t mean he isn’t doing any writing at all. On the contrary! He is working on book number two and has in his brain an idea for some sort of philosophy paper to be written in the near future.
In my neck of the woods, knitting is still a HUGE part of my day, as is sustaining human life. Music is still going well and the church choir is singing at Jimmy Carter’s church in Plains, GA in a couple weeks. I’m beside myself with glee since I didn’t get to go last year. This year, I get to go and I get to sing for him to boot! Then after church we’re eating at a tiny restaurant called Mom’s Kitchen which allegedly has the best fried chicken in the universe. I can’t wait!
Current projects OTN: Isabella. I unravelled a cotton sweater that Jamie’s mom gave me and the yarn is a perfect guage match, not to mention almost a perfect color match to the one in the picture.
I’m also working on a blanket for my cousin’s baby girl due in August. That project is slow going, though, because to me blankets are boring. In a couple weeks, I’m planning to knit up a couple testers for a nighttime soaker design I have in my brain. I’m really, really excited about doing those.
That’s about all for now. I have to go start dinner..
